Updated July 2026.

The percentage of clicks (or visitors) that complete a desired action — purchase, signup or lead. The hinge between traffic and results.

Formula

(Conversions ÷ Clicks) × 100

Benchmark range

Google Search: 8.18% average (2026), up to 16.22% (Pets & Animals). Meta e-commerce: ~1.57%. LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms: ~13% (LinkedIn internal, older data — ~5x typical landing pages).

Why it matters

Small CVR gains compound: doubling conversion rate halves effective CPA. Landing-page experience, offer clarity and traffic quality drive it more than ad spend.

2026 update

Google Search conversion rates rose for 87% of industries in 2026, the main reason CPL fell for the first time in five years. On Meta, CVR rose ~8% as the Andromeda engine improved buyer-matching.
