Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO)
Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO) explained — Meta's auto-distribution of budget across ad sets, renamed Advantage+ Campaign Budget in 2026.

Updated July 2026.
A Meta setting that sets one budget at the campaign level and lets the algorithm distribute it across ad sets in real time, funneling spend to the best performers.
Benchmark range
Works best with several comparable ad sets and enough conversion volume for the algorithm to judge winners. Now the default budgeting approach on Meta.
Why it matters
CBO removes manual budget-shuffling and reacts faster than humans, but it can starve smaller ad sets you wanted to protect. Use minimum/maximum spend controls when needed.
2026 update
CBO was renamed in steps: 'Advantage campaign budget' in 2022, then 'Advantage+ campaign budget' in Meta's February 2025 consolidation. Combined with the Andromeda engine's improved delivery, campaign-level budgeting paired with broad Advantage+ audiences is now the recommended default structure.
